The way of the empty hand.
karate-do is a self- defense oriented martial art in which the entire body Is systematically trained and molded to become an effective defense against an enemy aggressor.
Shotokan karate is a traditional Japanese martial art dating back to the earls 1900s. It was founded by Gichin Funakoshi and was the first style of karate-do introduced to Japan. Master Funakoshi integrated two earlier systems of
open-hand fighting, bringing together the best of each.
It is an art built on the perfection of comparatively few techniques, rather than a limited knowledge of many. It Is a linear fighting style based on the philosophy that the shortest distance between two points Is a straight line. It also maintains that a direct line of attack Is the safest and most effective.
